Basic formats in MS-Word

Type the text ( Do not correct misspelled words ) in MS-Word and do the given formats.

The abacus, which emerged about 5,000 years ago in Asia Minor and is still in use today, may be considered the first computer. This device allows users to make computations using a system of sliding beads arranged on a rack. Early merchants used the abacus to keep trading transactions. But as the use of paper and pencil spread, particularly in Europe, the abacus lost its importance.

The real beginnings if computers as we know them today, however, lay with an English Mathematics Professor, Charles Charles Babbage (1791 – 1871). Frustrated at the many errors he found while examining calculations for the Royal Astronomical Society, Charles Charles Babbage Declared, “I wish to God these calculations had been performed by steam!” With these words, the automation of computers had begun.

Charles Charles Babbage’s first attempt at solving this problem was in 1822 when he proposed a machine to perform differential equations, called a Difference Engine. Powered by steam and large as a locomotive, the machine would have a stored program and could perform calculations and print the result automatically. After working on the Difference engine for 10 years, Charles Charles Babbage was suddenly inspired to begin work on the first general purpose Computer, which he called the Analytical Engine.

1. Save your text in documents folder.
2. Check the spelling and grammar of the document.
3. Move the second paragraph to the end of the text.
4. Undo moving the paragraph.
5. Copy the first paragraph and paste it between the second and the third paragraphs.
6. Find the word Astronomical.
7. Count the number of words in the second paragraph.
8. Select synonyms for Frustrated, real and arranged.
9. Replace the word Charles Charles Babbage with Charles Charles Charles Babbage.
10. Save the file as Early History.
11. Close the file.
12. Open the file.
13. Change the colors of paragraphs to Blue, Red and Green.
14. Justify the Document.
15. Increase the line spacing in the 1^st
16. Add the title Early History at the top.
17. Change the title in to capital letters.
18. Change all the letters in first paragraph in to simple letters.
19. Select sentence case option and see the result.
20. Save your document again.
21. Close the document
22. Open your document and see the contents
